Industry
Standards for Energy Efficient Windows
How to
Compare Energy Efficient Windows
When it comes to replacing home windows, the most important feature for
most homeowners is energy efficiency.
There are
three industry standards of window treating to consider.
|
|
Argon
Gas is probably the best-known energy saving feature. Though its
insulation value has been surpassed by other techniques, many homeowners
still select Argon because it's a known product. |
|
|
Low
E is a more effective efficiency treatment. The process involves
a silver compound sprayed on the inside of double paned windows to
reflect back heat. |
|
|
Better
still is Low E2, the newest version of Low E technology. It
was discovered if you applied the Low E treatment to a window a second
time you more than doubled the efficiency quotient of the window. |
|
|
Window
Tinting improves energy efficiency of windows by reducing solar
heat gain in the summer. Tinted windows also reduce fading of rugs,
carpets, art, window coverings and other home decorations and furnishings
by reducing the strong rays that cause fading. |
